HNC in Childhood Practice

HNC in Childhood Practice

What is it about?
Whether you are working with children in Church, Sunday School or Messy Church, or you want to make the first steps into a career in a school or nursery, the HNC in Childhood Practice can help you understand the world of the child and develop some of the skills for working with them.

Why study this programme?
This programme is designed to support students in their work with children and will look particularly at Christian contexts and what it means as Christians to work with Children. Units include:

  • Health, Wellbeing and Safeguarding
  • Lifespan Development
  • Care in Contemporary Society
  • Effective Communication

Features of the course

  • Taught by a staff team who are actively involved in children’s ministry
  • Recognised pathway into teaching or working in nurseries
  • Teaching done in small groups with creative activities
  • Looks at both our own development and the development of the children

Placement options
Most students coming on to the programme are already involved in working with children and may use this context as a placement. For those students who are not already involved somewhere that could be a placement, then we will support the student in finding somewhere suitable.
